DISABLED AND FEEBLE-MINDED
The "Law for the Prevention of Progeny with Hereditary Diseases" that was passed in July 1933 stated that anyone that had hereditary diseases would be forcibly sterilized to prevent them from passing their weak genes on to the next generation. These included:
- THE MENTALLY ILL
- MENTALLY DISABLED- "congenital feeble-mindedness"
- PHYSICAL DEFORMITY
- EPILEPSY
- BLINDNESS/ DEAFNESS
- ALCOHOLICS
- PROSTITUTES
These people were considered "abnormal", and over 300,000 of them were forcibly sterilized. Many of these operations were committed against the will of the patient, or without their knowledge. Thousands of people died as a result of the operations, as they were not cared for properly. Many resulted in severe infections.
